What's inside the Recorder?

The Methodist Recorder boasts a wide variety of features and regular columns. Here are just some of the top Methodist and Christian writers whose bylines can be spotted and the items you can find between the covers:

  • Popular monthly columns by the Rev Dr Kenneth Greet and the Rev Dr Leslie Griffiths, both former Presidents of the Conference.
  • A regular column by the current President of the Conference.
  • Weekly television and radio reviews with a Christian focus by the Rev David Bridge. The Recorder also presents weekly listings of programmes across the networks that may appeal to a Christian audience.
  • Spiritual reflections and sermons by a wide range of writers. Each week, there are also recommended Bible readings, a prayer, a fellowship hymn and the engagements of leading Methodists, including the President and Vice-President.
  • Arts reviews, information and opinions, with regular reviews of new CDs.
  • Book reviews on all manner of topics by experts in the subject matters.
  • Special Recorder resources on every kind of subject from disability in the church to campaign events, brought to you by guest writers and the Recorder's own team of journalists: Barry Weetman, David Bridge and Stephen Regan.

All that, and, of course, the latest news. As a totally independent and self-financing paper, we are never compromised in bringing you the real facts.

The Recorder's philosophy has always been that of "Connecting the Connexion" - this is demonstrated in the strong reader-orientated content of the paper. Each week, in addition to the ever-lively letters page and the dedicated local news pages, there is also a "Questions and Answers" column for those historical, theological, technical and just plain curious queries that only Methodists could answer, as well as the "Bulletin Board", listing events, publications and other matters of interest for readers to keep one another informed. "On the Grapevine" is a regular forum where readers can share ideas, resources and requests.

We hope you enjoy the paper - please keep us informed. If you are interested in writing for the paper yourself, click here.
